I'm the Director of Community Operations here at deviantART, which means I oversee the day to day running of the community, which includes the Help Desk, CEA Team as well as the Chat & Forums. I believe that community development is something that's an approach not a department, and after working a number of years leading local government projects as a community education worker, it's a dream job to combine my love of art and community development here at deviantART. I work alongside Heidi, our VP of Marketing and Moonbeam13, who is our Director of Community Relations.

I'm passionate about empowering artists through philanthropic opportunities, and have a particular love of tattoo culture and artwork that's inspired by music.

As part of my role at deviantART I have the honour of selecting Senior deviants as well as the Deviousness Award recipients.

I also write a column for the Fantasy Artist magazine all about deviantART and the amazing digital art from our community.

As many of you know, I play percussion in a local community brass band. We recently made history when we competed in the Regional Championships and won our section -- then later on in the day, our Intermediate band (which is mainly made up of young players and people returning to playing after a long break) competed and won their section too. This is a unique achievement in the history of banding and we're really excited by it.

Winning the Regionals means we have been invited down to Cheltenham, in England, to play at the Nationals in September. The Senior band are also competing a the European Championships in May this year, which is a huge accolade for us.

Attending the Nationals is going to cost in excess of £9000, and therefore it's a mammoth fundraising task for us - but we are determined to do it. I've set up a fundraising page for the band for anyone who wants to support us reaching such a prestigious event. If you want to be part of such a unique event in the history of banding in the UK, please show support. Every little bit helps!

You can donate here -…

Thank you

That's not how it works unfortunately. The DA policy specifically defines copyright infringement as:

"Some examples of copyright infringement (this is only a partial listing) can include:

  • Placing someone else's photograph or creative work online without proper permission.
  • Using a creative work commercially without permission.
  • Adapting someone else's creative work found in one medium to another medium, such as making a book into a movie or a photograph into a painting.
  • Modifying or editing a creative work without proper permission."

As well, all reports should be privately reported and done by the owner, otherwise silly arguments fill up people's pages like this and many people walk home embarrassed.

"art-theft" is a colloquial term for copyright infringement (and/or plagiarism). if you used someone else's work without their explicit permission, you infringed the person's copyright. although, admittedly, it might qualify as "fair use".

You'll need to get your friends to report this, since it's their artwork :)
