But after a while
You realise time flies
And the best thing that you can do
Is take whatever comes to you
'Cause time flies
You'll may (or may not) have noticed that all my work is in storage. I don't feel the need to justify why; it should be obvious. Truth be told, I rarely log in here. I do occasionally upload to Flickr and Instagram. I'm also still around on Twitter. I don't really have much of a digital presence these days!
She said luck is what you make it
You just reach out and take it
Now let's dance a while
I still receive notes from people suggesting deviants for Seniority. That's a shame. Looks like there's not much action in that area anymore. If you have any Community issues, comments, concerns or cheesecake it is probably best to contact Moonbeam13 as sadly, my days of influencing such matters are no more. I still make awesome cheesecake though.
She said nothing ever happens
If you don't make it happen
And if you can't laugh and smile
I think that just about covers it?

Hi everyone! I'm Jade, better known around DeviantArt as Aeirmid. I chose my username because Aermid (or Airmid) is an Irish goddess of health and healing, and I wanted to pay tribute to her because I have dedicated my life to promoting mental and physical health in others. In fact, I'm just finishing up a PhD program in public health. In March, I will celebrate 10 amazing years on DeviantArt. Although I started my journey as a photographer, I quickly became enthralled with photomanipulation and worked hard to develop some skills. I chose my original name on DA, SanguineVamp, because I loved all sorts of dark and Gothic work. I still do. Still, I had a hard time creating dark art because my attempts at blood and gore always somehow magically evolved into fairies and goddesses.
I gave myself over to the creation of fantasy work for many years. Over time, I became more and more involved with the DA community and started "clubs" for collecting fantasy and dark work and for getting feedback on your work. Our feedback club became an alpha group, one of the first groups on DA. I fell in love with the community here and haven't left. I was so lucky to be chosen to join Moonbeam13's Community Volunteer team as the photomanipulation CV, and I now oversee the Digital Art gallery. I've enjoyed playing a lead role in various activities for the community, especially around Halloween time. There's no place like DA. It's been a wonderful ride, and I look forward to the future!
Deviousness Award Winner
The digital art communities on DeviantArt are comprised of some of the most hardworking and dedicated artists around the world, and they have one of the most committed volunteers to match. Aeirmid has served as the Community Volunteer for the photomanipulation and general Digital Art communities for nearly three years, pouring her heart into helping the community flourish. In addition to the time and energy that Jade puts toward the community, she is also a talented and hardworking artist whose skill and keen eye show through in even the smallest details of her work.
Jade has been an inspiration to me from the minute I met her on DeviantART. She has an unstoppable force of energy that just encompasses you and you can't help but be taken in by her tidal wave of enthusiasm for everything she does. Her dedication and passion shines through not only in what she does within the community but also within her own work.
When there is something to be done, Jade puts everything into doing it, whether it's a group, contest, project or something else entirely. One particular example that comes to mind is Halloween-HQ, where I, and many others, had the privilege to work beside Jade. I bring up Halloween-HQ because it is probably the largest activity I've ever been involved in in my 5+ years of this site, which says a lot about Jade. Jade shoots for the sky. She is so supportive of everyone, so much so that we can't help but be caught up in her boundless passion for DeviantArt, and, more importantly, the community on DeviantArt.
Jade is a lot more than just an incredible artist and star deviant. She has an immense gift that she shares with deviants each and every day. She is caring, funny, and wonderful to talk to. She is a leader in the community, both as a Community Volunteer and as a friend. And her artwork is stellar, without a doubt some of the best photomanipulation I know. Myself and many other deviants look up to Jade each and every day whether we are looking for guidance or just to suggest a Daily Deviation to her gallery. If you don’t know Jade, now is the time to say “Hello”. Congratulations to Jade, be proud of this award as we are certainly proud of you.
Aeirmid has been an incredible mentor to me, and quickly became an incredible friend as well. She is an amazing role model for the community, always striving to do more, and always giving her best for us all. The tremendous amount of work she does for the digital community warms me, and her constant desire to help and make a difference does not go unnoticed! It is rare to meet someone who will bring so much positivity and inspiration to your life.
Jade is one of the most kindhearted and helpful people who goes above the standard for the community. Her strong personality and dedications are infectious and make us join her.
Jade is an amazing and talented woman. She is brilliant, kind, and generous. Her tireless devotion to the Deviant Art community has been an inspiration for so many, myself included. She has been the guiding light, and steady hand that has helped so many improve their art and Deviant Art experience. Jade is a dear friend, sister of the heart, and embodies what the Deviousness Award is all about.
Jade is an amazing deviant, volunteer and friend. She is always thinking of new ways to bring the community together through projects, features and groups. Her work at the HalloweenHQ group is especially admirable given the scope of the contests in 2012 and 2013. She is an endless source of warmth and inspiration and the community would be a very different place without her.
Jade is such a caring, loveable soul that it's impossible to put it into words. Caring and kind, and always interested in what's going on. She put her heart into the community, as a Volunteer, an artist, and most of all, as a wonderful person.
I first met Jade two years ago thanks to a photomanipulation group and she quickly became one of my bestfriends. I have always been able to count on her whether it be for seeing me through dark personal times or heading up community projects and groups. Over the last two years, I had the honor of witnessing firsthand her natural ability to lead as well as how she genuinely cares for others through her superb work with both the photomanipulation and mental health communities. She goes out of her way to support the growth of others whether it be artistically or personally; making her an amazing individual that I have the honor of calling my bestfriend as well as someone I look up to. I cannot think of anyone more fitting to receive recognition for her amazing contributions to our community. Congraulations, Jade!
Not only is Jade an amazing friend and artist, shes also amazingly passionate about the DeviantArt community. No matter if shes helping out individual deviants, creating support groups, events and contests or features for everyone, Jade gives 110% in everything she does. She is truly inspirational to everyone around her, and I am proud to see her immense efforts being recognized with the Deviousness Award.
When I grow up, I want to be like Aeirmid! Jade is an inspiration to me as a deviant and as a CV. She is so devoted to the community! Whether it's a feature, an event, or one of her fantastic mental health articles, she is always working on something. She truly cares about this place and the people here. I am proud to call her a friend, and so happy she is being recognized with Deviousness!
2 days left in 2014, eek! It's certainly been a quick year for me - how about you?
As we head in to 2015, I'm back at work today, reading the multitudes of Seniority suggestions that have landed in my inbox. The next announcement will be made early in January, so if you have any last minute suggestions for someone who you believe should be made a Senior within our community, please drop me a note.
Before you do, however, please make sure that you read the following;
FAQ #29: How do I become a Senior Member?
I wish you all a very happy and inspired 2015!
Welcome to Toronto!
Who are we?toronto is a group that organizes and hosts devMEETs every month at a travel-friendly location. Our mission is to bring together deviants around the Greater Toronto Area of Ontario Canada, to meet new friends and to discover the face behind familiar names.
What do we do?We host many kinds of devMEETs. We have attended conventions such as Fan Expo, Anime North, and Toronto International Book Fair. We also tour art galleries, photography exhibits, and have our own drawing and photography sessions under the blue sky. Sometimes we simply get together and play a few rounds of Cards Against Humanity, a game of tabletop RPG, or watch a few movies of our attendees' choosing. At other times we get sporty and play pool/billiards, go bowling, have a round of ultimate frisbee, or go hiking in a city-center park.
What do we have planned next? You're in luck! On Sunday Dec 21, we will be hosting our annual winter skating event at Toronto City Hall. If you or a friend are in the area, please feel free to join us. We promise you a wonderfully fun time. You can find the full itinerary for the event here, and don't forget to RSVP! We look forward to meeting you.

Hello deviants and welcome to Fella's Dictionary brought to you by fella!
Over the past month and a half, a number of our contributors have been hard at work creating a brand new, updated, and enhanced dictionary that will allow any deviant to find common and not-so-common definitions of words, terms and acronyms on deviantART.
This dictionary has had a lot of sweat put into it. We encouraged deviants to contribute terms that they wanted to see defined. We then asked some of our contributors and deviantART Staff members to help bring together the fi

This week we are asking for everyone to show us or tell us about Space!
Space has many different meanings. It could talk about the infinite realm that holds all the stars and planets and all of the mysteries in between, it could mean the physical distance between to things or two objects, or even the personal relationship you have with others ("Over time space grew between us..."). You can use any medium of art you desire or just explain in the comments what the word

Commissioning in deviantARTCommunity Week
In deviantART, a person joins the website in hopes of becoming known and appreciated for your talents as an artist. After some time, you'll also learn you can earn something by selling your art. By selling you art, I mean selling your labor into creating a piece for a person to observe. The other selling is making a profit off of prints.
Now... why would one want to go about selling your art (as in labor)? To earn some money, a significant whatnot that allows you to buy other people's art. If you're going the PayPal route, this could mean some cold, hard cash!
How to Commission
Hate to say, selling your art require three key pieces: audience, skill and price. The difference between a successful seller and one that sells because they are desperate lies in those three points.
Of course, this is my take. Note that I'm not teaching you how to sell commissions. I'm showing you what things to consider when sell
How to Improve your Art and CommissionsWith every stroke we make with a brush, pencil, or any other medium we use, we are improving. Sometimes, it might feel like you are not improving at all and sometimes your art looks EPIC all of a sudden. I really hope this little guide can help you with your improvement and also give you some good tips in regards to creating commissioned pieces.
Observe Your Idols
We all have that one person, or those 50 people on DA who make us feel like our art is mediocre. You have to remember that those artists were once in your position, admiring other incredible artists. Have a couple artists you really really like and try to learn from them. Now I don't mean copy their styles and trace their work, but try some of their techniques or use their art as inspiration. (In my opinion, copying and tracing is how we start drawing but we don't share this with the public. Copy and trace only when you practice!) If you are fairly new to DA, you can browse the popular page, or c
Photography... To Edit or Not to Edit?Community Week
This is an important subject for the future of the photography community at deviantART and one that I hope will spark discussion, and the interest, of photographers and admirers. This article is intended for all skill levels but may be of particular interest to new photogs or even non-photographers.
I cannot tell you how many times I have offered editing advice on a photograph that suggests tweaking the brightness, increasing the contrast, adding blur, and so on. Often times this advice is accepted or argued back with a defense of why the photographer does not agree with my opinion. However, too often I get responses such as:
"Thank you for the tips but I do not edit my photographs."
"I like my photographs to appear exactly as they come out of the camera."
Now, as a photographer on deviantART for ten years--and if you've taken a look at my gallery then you KNOW I edit--this viewpoint

His storybook illustrations are expertly composed and feature an array of colorful characters for your viewing delight! His work is vibrant and whimsical and you can't help but fall in love with every piece in his gallery.
Toru is a traditional artist from Japan. He is quite the accomplished watercolorist and his paintings are nothing short of inspiring! He is able to achieve a high degree of realism that is difficult to master with this medium. The colors in his works are rich and earthy and he is brilliant at manipulating light. Every month, the team at CRLiterature hosts a book club! We began in June with THE HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY by Douglas Adams and are wrapping up the year with THE WILD IRIS, a poetry collection by Louise Glück. (And, yes, you totally have time to catch up this month -- this book is short!) Each month you'll have a new book and a new host from CRLiterature. As you can see from the above selections, we do our very best to read widely. We've read Stephen King, Cornelia Funke, H.P. Lovecraft and Helen Fielding this year! We're excited for reading MORE books with even MORE of you in 2015!
December Book Club: Wild Iris, a poetry collectionYou still have until January 10th to read this awesome book and participate in winning some great prizes. Not to mention get better at writing, so read on to find out just how incredible this book is and why it deserves your time.
It's the middle of the month, and we're ready for some poetry discussion that will show you why this book is worth your time. (: this book is really short, so if you haven't gotten around to reading yet, don't despair! Ask PinkyMcCoversong who read like half of it in a day. "But she's awesome", the crowds say - I know, but her superpowers don't include reading poetry particularly fast.
Oh pray, good HtBlack, what makes this book of poetry from someone I don't even know worth my time?
Well, you know, we all have tastes, so we tend to read what we think we'll like - and it's fair. But sometimes our tastes prevent us from looking farther than we're used to, and as writers/readers, broad horizons in my opinion should mat
What we're reading right now with host TheMaidenInBlack!
CRLiterature is the hub for all things lit community on dA. And we love helping the community with their writing, at all stages. But the number one thing that writers should be doing is READING. We also know how much of a book-ish community we have on dA (as showcased by the awesome fan art we feature in every Book Club journal), and we know that no matter who you are, or what kind of art you're creating, our work is enriched by what we read and experience. Reading as a writer (or artist) isn't just about the grammar and the syntax and the style. It's also about culture, and discovering new and different voices, about becoming a world citizen by reading stories that other people, with different experiences, wrote. Whether you write, paint, draw, or fold origami, we want you to join us!
On the first of the month, the host (one of the CRLiterature admins) will post an intro journal about the book. (Follow CRLiterature and you'll be sure to see these updates!) Halfway through the month, the host will post a check-in, with discussion questions for the first half of the book. And at the end of the month, there will be an end-of-month discussion. ANYONE can participate in these discussions! Here are some of our mid-month discussions from earlier this year:
August Book Club Mid-Month Check-In: CARRIEHello, readers! Our beloved Nichrysalis has run into some personal stuff he has to deal with, so I'll be taking over for the rest of the this month's book club!
How are you liking CARRIE so far? At this point, you're at the mid point, having finished Part One of Stephen King's debut novel.
I'm going to post some questions for discussion below, but first....

September Book Club Mid-Month Check In: PERKSHey everyone! Sorry this is a little late; dA has been acting wonky for me the last couple of days, but I think it's fixed now! On to the discussion!

And now, the questions!
What do you think being a wallflower is? Do you agree with Bob's definition?
Who did you identify with the most? Did you see parts of yourself in any one specific character?
October Book Club: Lovecraft Discussion, Part 1The middle of October is here, with chilly winds rattling the naked branches at night, surprisingly early sunsets, and mornings that crawl out of bed like a college co-ed regretting last night's pumpkin-spiced tequila shots. It's also time for the mid-month discussion journal from the CRLiterature Book Club. By now you should have read the first three short stories (discussion for the novella, "At the Mountains of Madness", will take place at the end of the month):
The Music of Erich Zann
(Note: Music will play if you click the link.)
The Thing on the Doorstep
Before we get to the discussion, here's more Lovecraft fan art from around deviantArt:
Just show up! And PARTICIPATE. We hope you're already interested in hanging out with us and reading and discussing, but, just in case you needed a little extra motivation, we always have some pretty cool prizes. The top participant for the month -- as judged by the admins based on contributions to the discussions -- will receive the prizes. Usually the prizes are books that are somehow related to the book selection for the month. This month we are giving away POISONED APPLES: Poems for You, My Pretty by Christine Heppermann and RESURRECTION PARTY by Michalle Gould. (Courtesy of HarperTeen and Silver Birch Press, respectively.) Every six months, we also give away a giant box of all of the giveaway books for the aforementioned past six months of Book Club. The box I'm mailing out in January is pretty fantastic. I can't wait to see who wins!
EVERYONE. That means you. We have this handy-dandy calendar here, to help you figure out what we're reading ahead of time. Get to the library (and learn about interlibrary loans!), the book store, or your ebook retailer. We do our very best to choose books that are easy to access in most English-speaking countries both at stores and on ebook platforms. We also love bookdepository.com, who provide free shipping worldwide. (For real!) So you should be able to get your hands on every single book club selection no matter what.
Maybe the best part about this book club is that you don't have to even leave your house to participate. It's at the tips of your fingers. Which is great, since reading is SO IMPORTANT and also REALLY FUN. CRLiterature is so proud and excited to bring a book club to dA, and in 2015, we hope you'll be right here with us, hanging out, reading, discussing, and getting involved in this awesome community of artists and writers.
In January we'll be reading and discussing DAWN by Nebula- and Hugo-Award-Winning author Octavia E. Butler. See you there!

Hey, everyone! I’m Eric Proctor (TsaoShin) and I’m a US based digital painter. My work is a mix of fantasy, fun, and the stuff I think is cool. My background in oil painting influences my style and I like to keep my colors outrageous. I’ve been on deviantART for 10 years and my artistic growth has been shaped greatly by this community. I am continuously inspired by the amazing work that people submit here and I’m motivated by the love and comments left by people who appreciate it. Thank you for all of your support!
Deviousness Award Winner
An energetic artist who brings a spark of life to all of his creations, Eric Proctor (known by the community as TsaoShin) has spawned some of the most memorable works of art on DeviantART. His Grumpy Cat Disney mashups have been seen and shared far and wide across the internet, and his creative spirit and technical ability are matched only by his good-hearted nature. To many community members, Eric is one of the most friendly individuals to interact with. All of his Journals come with good cheer, gratitude, and positivity, and he takes time to interact and spread good cheer and knowledge into the community.
TsaoShin has been a deviant I've followed for a long time. Eric was one of the first few people who's art I fell in love with in regards to Fan Art and style. Stitch being my favorite Disney character, I fell in LOVE with all his beautifully, creative pieces! He brings to life fantastical, funny, enjoyable creations that you can enjoy over and over again!
I want to first say it is a great honor and privilege to say something about Tsaoshin's big award! He definitely knows which end of the pen to use to cook up some very sweet candy for the eyes and has a very unique and recognizable style! I have had the honor to award him his 4th and 5th Daily Deviation! He has a wonderfully shining personality and a wonderful sense of humor. His most notable art series is the Grumpy Cat Disney series which are just hilarious and epic! Eric, I want you to stand up, take your bow and pat yourself on the back! You deserve it! Continue to reach the sky and bite the stars because you have prove to be a very successful artist and stolen a lot of our hearts! Enjoy your time in the spotlight and never stop!
Eric is a very inspiring artist to me, someone I admire with all my heart!!! I came across with his gallery here on DeviantArt when I saw his Grump Disney collection of amazing illustrations, and I remember laughing my head off, while my eyes were still at "awe" with his skills and the details of his works! To this day I keep going back to those particular drawings when I'm in need of some "food-for-the- creativity" we all have from time to time. But aside from his absolutely wonderful skills, Eric has a very sweet personality, he's very thoughtful in the way he answers to people's comments and although he's such a busy person, he still makes time to answer everybody and to provide resources like brushes and wonderful tutorials! He's evidently very passionate about what he does, and it shows! You cannot visit his gallery without getting your eyes completely captured by those colors and all the emotions he's able to communicate through the facial expressions of the characters he draws. I'm SO happy he's being celebrated like this today, because our beloved TsaoShindeserves this immensely! Keep up the wonderful work, dear Eric!
Eric is an artist I’ve admired a long time for his uplifting and inspiring art. His work is infectiously cute, clever, and remarkably skillful—every piece tells a story that often provokes a smile. Beyond that, I’ve grown to respect him, not only as a creative individual, but as someone who constantly reaches out to the community. We have the unique opportunity to follow his journey and interact with him along the way. He frequently gives back to deviants through features and giveaways, but also shares his process through videos and resources. I feel like it’s silly to say after all I’ve already said, but Eric is one of the kindest artists I’ve met on DeviantArt, and it’s a quality equally matched to his skill as an artist. We are lucky to have him in the DeviantArt community, and we can only hope to one day match his skill, kindness, and enthusiasm.

Hola, Hector is my name (AKA elsevilla), I'm a comic artist and illustrator from Mexico and I've been a member of DeviantArt for the past 12 years. I have done works for major companies all thanks to the community that spreads the word and cares for my work. I love coffee and peanut butter on bread! I wouldnt be here if it wasnt for my parents and the DeviantArt community, that always keep me focused in right direction. I just want to say thank you guys, for making my dreams come true.
Deviousness Award Winner
Hector, better known as elsevilla, is one of DeviantArt's most recognizable artists. A professional, talented individual and long-time deviant, Hector's art has been a standard in the community for years. He is a shining example of a kindred spirit, friendly and welcoming to everyone he encounters, offering tips and resources, and regularly livestreaming his creative process, giving artists of all kind the opportunity to learn.
Sevilla has always been a huge inspiration not only for being incredibly talented, having worked for big name companies such as Konami, but because despite that, he remains incredibly friendly and helpful, breaking the preconception that "big name" artists don't have the time to engage with the community. He's also always offering a very personal and honest opinion about current topics in his journal, which is always interesting to read. Congratulations Hector! You deserve it!
I don't believe it would be a stretch to say that elsevilla is one of those artists that many are inspired by. His mastery of his medium and attention to the finer details bring each one of his pieces to life in ways that truly captures the viewers attention. His exceptional artwork is definitely worthy of your time!
He was one of the first artists I discovered in the online world of manga and anime. I was a fan of the tv shows and when I discovered I could watch them online, I dedicated my hours to do so, then tried to find the images of the main characters I loved from them. Thats when i found DeviantArt in 2005 and then BooM his amazing art captivated me! I remember I left some comments on them on my old account and he always had the time to reply. It was just a hobby for him back then Wow!. I was even more impressed because he was a Mexican artist, I barely find latin americans here as me, so another Star! on my wall for that too. Now I wait every week to the upcoming release of his works to feature them in my groups, hoping to captivate more followers of his works. I find myself watching his live drawings sessions in his Livestream channel and wow! He knows exactly how to work, fast, he ends up making huge changes in the end and the outcome is even better Love The faces and body shape of his characters is what I love most about them. The colors and expressions in their faces are just incredibly detailed, especially the wicked ones, that are full of attitude and maybe a spicy look in their eyes (Big Grin) I am a Lovers/Couples artworks lover, and he has the best ones for me.
elsevilla is a force that genuinely pulls you away from the ground, to the magical heights of the skies and makes you fly into another dimension of art. Hector is a person that tries different concepts from Dragons to octopus to Chin Li Fan Art to the finest manga/anime arts you will see on DeviantART. Hector is really someone who amazes me every single time with his amazing and highly diversified ARTS.
Hector was one of the first deviants I came across that deeply inspired me to become a better artist when I first joined deviantART. The sheer amount of fun details and colors he puts into each of his works never ceases to awe me, and he continues to evolve as an artist over the years. Even at his level of popularity on deviantART, Hector also still takes the time to share his artistic insight with his followers. deviantART is better for having such an amazing individual among its ranks.
I watched elsevilla even before deviantART existed. Hector is an artist that always strives for improvement, switching from traditional to digital and finding his own unique style. He's never afraid to speak his mind and share what he knows. He's always willing to give tips and he's always got great anime recommendations!
Hector's work has always been outstanding, not only for his artwork but what he has contributed to the community. He was already a deviant before I joined deviantART and by the time I decided I wanted to enter this professional art journey, he already had been working on his. 10 years ago, his art blew my mind, and nowadays he keeps being the inspiration for many people. He is a very crazy person with amazing ideas and incredible talent and I hope he continues to be crazy for many more years to come.
When people talk about style and Latin talent, the name Hector Sevilla is one of the first that comes to mind. His style is so recognizable and is one of the first reasons that brought me to DeviantART. It is not necessary to read his name besides an image to know that it is his. As any big artist, his style speaks for him and transforms into his best presentation card, compressing in just one image western culture, oriental expressiveness and Latin sensibility. Is an honor to consider him as a friend and colleague and I'm lucky to be testifing of his growing as an artist - to become one of the greats of today.
